- Ursprünglich beschrieben als Microtus (Pitymys) carruthersi. Später auch in der Gattung Neodon gelistet und auch aktuelle meist als Unterart von Blanfordimys juldaschi geführt. Aktuelle genetische Untersuchungen (Bannikova et al., 2009) unterstützen eine Zuordnung zur Gattung Blanfordimys.

Blanfordimys juldaschi (Severtzov, 1879) (Juniper-Wühlmaus/Juniper Vole):
- Ursprünglich beschrieben als Arvicola juldaschi und später gelistet in den Gattungen Pitymys, Microtus oder Neodon. Aktuelle genetische Untersuchungen (Liu et al., 2012; Bannikova et al., 2009, 2010) unterstützen jedoch eine Zuordnung zu Blanfordimys.
- Terra typica: Kara-Kul-Basin nahe Aku im Pamir-Gebirge, Nordost-Tadschikistan.
- Identifizierung/Beschreibung: Kopf-Rumpf-Länge 83-105 mm; Schwanzlänge 29-39 mm; Hinterlauflänge 15-17 mm; Ohrlänge 11-17 mm. Kopf, Rumpf und Schwanz oberseits hellbraun und unterseits silbrig weiß.

- In der Literatur findet sich für die Erstbeschreibung als Autor und Publikationsjahr oft Hodgson, 1849. Wie von Kaneko & Smeenk (1996) aber korrekt bemängelt wird, erfolgte von Hodgson keine Beschreibung der Art. Diese lieferte erst Horsfield (1851). Die Art wurde zeitweise den Gattungen Pitymys oder Microtus zugeordnet und gelegentlich auch mit N. irene gleichgesetzt. Beide Arten können aber morphologisch und genetisch gut unterschieden werden (Liu et al., 2012). Die Population in Tibet stellt möglicherweise eine separate Art dar.

- Identifizierung/Beschreibung: Kopf-Rumpf-Länge 97-121 mm; Schwanzlänge 30-52 mm; Hinterlauflänge 17-22 mm; Ohrlänge 11-16 mm; Gewicht 27-49 g; Fell mit ockerbraunem Seitenstreifen, der die dunkelbraune Oberseite von der dunkelgrauen Unterseite trennt; Schwanz oberseits braun und unterseits weiß; Vorder- und Hinterläufe bräunlich weiß.
