Classis Brachypoda Birstein, 1960 (Klasse Kopfschildkrebse/Horseshoe Shrimps):
· Taxonomie: Das Taxon Brachypoda wurde ursprünglich als Ordnung innerhalb der Unterklasse Cephalocarida Sanders, 1955 beschrieben. Wir folgen hier aber Schram & Koenemann (2021) und verwenden Brachypoda als das übergeordnete Taxon.

Ordo Cephalocarida Sanders, 1955 (Ordnung Hufeisengarnelen/True Horseshoe Shrimps):
· 13 Arten.
· Identifizierung/Beschreibung: Langgestreckter, homonom segmentierter Körper mit hufeisenförmigen Kopf, neun Brustsegmenten (Thorax), zehn Hinterleibsegmenten (Abdomen) und Telson mit Furka.

Familia Hutchinsoniellidae Sanders, 1955 (Familie Echte Hufeisengarnelen/Common Horseshoe Shrimps):
· 13 Arten. Der Stammbaum orientiert sich an den morphologischen Analysen von Carcupino et al. (2006), wobei Hampsonellus davon abweichend vorerst als Schwestertaxon zu Sandersiella betrachtet wird.

Genus Hampsonellus Hessler & Wakabara, 2000 (Gattung Brasilianische Hufeisengarnelen/Brazilian Horseshoe Shrimps):
· 1 Art. Nach den morphologischen Analysen von Carcupino et al. (2006) nistet Hampsonellus brasiliensis innerhalb der Gattung Sandersiella. Die Gültigkeit der Gattung Hampsonellus ist daher durch weitere Untersuchungen zu klären.
